Pacific Bay Otish Airborne Uranium Survey Finds New Magnetic/Radiometric Anomaly, Drill Plan Update

Vancouver, British Columbia, August 8, 2007 - Mr. George Sanders, President, Consolidated Pacific Bay Minerals Ltd. (TSX Venture: CBP, "Pacific Bay") reports that preliminary data from Pacific Bay's 2007 airborne geophysical survey in the Matoush area of the Otish Mountains, Québec suggests the presence of a new magnetic and radiometric anomaly, called the "Rabbit Ears Target" within the Rabbit Ears zone, approximately 12 kilometres northeast of the Matoush deposit. Pacific Bay's helicopter-borne radiometric and magnetic survey has been flown by Geo Data Solutions, Inc. of Laval, Québec and covers approximately 6,660 line-kilometres in the Papaskwasati and Otish claim blocks. The southernmost of Pacific Bay's two "Rabbit Ears" claim groups was staked in an up-ice direction to cover a radiometric anomaly discovered in last year's airborne survey. The new data suggests that this radiometric anomaly may end at a north-trending magnetic linear within the southern Rabbit Ears claim block. Pacific Bay geologists are now ground checking this new area from their operations base at Camp Alfred.

Due to unexpectedly difficult ground conditions and the unavailability of a required "heavy lift" helicopter, Pacific Bay is aggressively seeking alternatives to the full-sized drill rig it had previously secured. Pacific Bay had originally planned to move a larger scale rig on site and move the rig via ground from one location to the next, but swampy conditions at the proposed drill sites will not permit drill moves via ground. Pacific Bay intends to follow through with its drilling plans using a heli-portable drill rig and will not proceed with the previously announced drill contract. A new schedule for drilling target anomalies will be announced as soon as a light-weight rig becomes available.

George Sanders, P.Geo, President of Consolidated Pacific Bay Minerals, Ltd. and Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101 for this News Release states "The new airborne data is giving us some very exciting, new Matoush area anomalies which will be immediately followed up, and the Papaskwasati data is being processed and will be available shortly. This is our first season 'on the ground' in the Otish mountains and our geological team is giving us excellent capability to quickly follow up-on airborne anomalies. We have a team of 8 geologists and support staff conducting our ongoing and expanding exploration program in one of Canada's premier uranium plays."

The preliminary airborne data is being processed from north to south, and the southern Matoush and Papaskwasati data will be reported on as it becomes available. A new detailed graphic of the "Rabbit Ears" magnetic and radiometric anomaly has been posted to our website www.pacificbayminerals.com along with photos of ground prospecting. A new map of the Otish Matoush region has also been posted showing the location of the Matoush deposit, the Little Matoush showing, and the Rabbit Ears and Zone 1-3-6 targets within Pacific Bay's claims. Consolidated Pacific Bay Minerals Ltd. explores for uranium and precious metals, with major projects underway in Québec and Argentina. Please visit our website for more information.
