Otish Mountain Geophysical Anomalies Show Matoush Uranium Structure Likely Extends Onto Pacific Bay Claims Consolidated Pacific Bay Minerals Ltd. — TSX Venture — CBP

Vancouver, British Columbia, September 19, 2006 -- Mr. George Sanders, President, Consolidated Pacific Bay Minerals Ltd. (TSX Venture: CBP, the "Company") reports that the Company's recent helicopter-borne geophysical survey in the Otish Mountains of Québec indicates the Matoush high-grade uranium structure likely extends into PacBay's claims, northeast and southwest of the area discovered and drilled by Uranerz in 1983 and currently being explored by Strateco Resources Inc. The survey, by Aeroquest International, was a cooperative effort between PacBay and Strateco Resources. Aeroquest will provide detailed radiometrics, magnetics andIMPULSE EM (electro-magnetic) data for a total of 1,600 line-kilometres (at 100 meter spacing) over PacBay's claims in the Matoush area and over PacBay's claims on the SW rim of the Otish Basin.

E. Trent Pezzot, P.Geop, a Qualified Person under NI 43-101, states, "the northeasterly strike of geology hosting the Matoush structure is evident in both the magnetic and radiometric trends on PacBay ground to the north of the known structure. This implies that a northerly continuation of the Matoush mineralization would extend on to PacBay ground."

The Otish Basin is geologically analogous to the Athabasca Basin in northern Saskatchewan, and the Matoush structure is suggestive of a geological environment similar to those that control the emplacement of the rich uranium deposits in the Athabasca Basin. A preliminary look at the data shows multiple, NE trends of total-count radiometric anomalies, which project onto PacBay's claims within an emerging "Matoush Corridor".

George Sanders, P.Geo, President, states, "These preliminary geophysical results are highly encouraging, and show that other total-count radiometric anomaly trends parallel the Matoush structure within PacBay's claims. The Company is planning a follow-up program to evaluate these anomalies on the ground, and will consider the option of a winter geophysical program to define drill targets."

A new graphic of the Matoush airborne radiometric anomalies has been posted to PacBay's website. Strong radiometric anomalies have also been encountered on PacBay's claim block to the west and south, at the rim of the Otish Basin. These preliminary results will be posted soon.
